I had never used Reason or any Daw or had knowledge of hardware but I started making music with Reason on day 1 and by one year was making some of My best ever music. Reason is as simple or complex as you want.

I can say that ableton live deserves far more mention for producing than you gave it credit for.

Been using FL Studio for over 15 years.

What are you talking about, it's no good for recording bands?

Just arm the channels you want to record, set your inputs, and hit record.

The only people who think this is hard or challenging are the people who hear rumours and have never actually used FL Studio itself.

It's come a LONG way from the pattern-based sequencer it used to be in the late 90s.

I'm liking Mixcraft. But its' Windows OPS only, ( I do believe). To each their own. It's all about being comfortable with the workflow. But, if you want to collaborate on tracks. You should go with Pro Tools, I'm told. It's just too pricey for a Hack like me! Rock on and God Bless us all!

I agree, for a beginner, like me ... well I ve been a beginner for many years now, Cubase is not only not the best but it's even a nightmare. But if you have an i-Pad, I find Garage Band absolutely amazing; I don;t see it as a harsh complicated DAW (like ugly Cubase) but as a real game...that way you have fun not only making music but also recording it + you can incorporate other VSTs available + it's entirely free.

For a beginner any daw is tough to learn or work with. After 5 years you can be the maestro of any Daw mentioned hear if you continue to use regular. Whatever it's a funnnny video about music making.

I do use ableton for everything which includes a lot of midi sequencing and editing. I agree that it doesn’t have the best workflow for midi editing but it’s what i’m used to haha.
