Exide, East Penn, Johnson controls, interstate are the only manufacturer most parts stores know who makes theirs. For instance O'Reilly uses Johnson controls for regular car batteries and East Penn for big truck/industrial. AutoZone used to use Exide. The biggest factor in a lead acid battery is the plates and how much material they use to make them.

Optima was the best on the market back in the day. Once they got bought out, they turned to garbage. Odyssey became the gold standard, but I don't know if they're still good batteries. Lithium 12v run between $800-$2200 each. I have been running interstate for a decade, they all suck but interstates warranty is pretty good

Just replaced the battery in my mom’s 2019 Durango. The “Mopar labeled” AGM battery was dated 2/18.

It still tests good, and was only replaced for preventative maintenance.

I must disagree about being able to maintain a battery. We have 3 vehicles. And all of them have pop tops, including the (2) batteries that are in my 2012 Ram 3500 Cummins diesel. In fact two weeks ago I popped the tops on the PT Cruiser battery and top of with distilled water. You can also still buy battery acid additive packs. I also have the ol' trusty battery hydrometer for testing electrolyte levels. 😁

Bought an optima battery back in 2002. Sold the car in 2015. That battery was still doing good. 13 years!!

I’ve been very satisfied with EverStart and they offer three year replacement, five year prorated warranty. I live in a city where the winters are below freezing and the summers are over 115 degrees, so our batteries live a tough life. We usually get about four or five years of battery life

Just replaced the Interstate battery I put in my wife's Lexus GX470 back in 2016. We got 6 years and 9 months out of it...
Put a Diehard Platinum AGM in my Hemi Ram 1500 Sport back in 2020 for $212 from Advanced Auto and its still going strong. 😊👍

I'd say maintenance(, distilled water etc), and charging or taking the vehicle for a long drive ocassionally, to keep the battery fully topped up is key

If you get yourself an internal resistance (IR)tester and load tester, measure once every six months, you’ll be able to tell when it needs to be replaced. Our Toyota battery went bad in three years. Nothing else has had to be replaced so that’s pretty good for eight years now. I typically get 3 to 5 years out of my batteries. I usually buy the middle or top tier.

Some Magnums have 2 batteries. One in the back trunk area, and an auxiliary under the hood.

Let me put this out there, go by the weight of the battery, I worked for a battery shop for about 14 years and I highly recommend a dual post battery if you have room for it because it’s a heavier made battery with more plates inside, I’ve gotten 5 years from my past two batteries, $60 dollar economy batteries, dual post. Todays vehicles eat them up with all the electronics etc, BTW, stay away from interstate batteries, very cheaply made, once again, go by the weight of the battery!

Have a '17 Ram 1500 Limited Ecodiesel w/ 39K miles and the OEM battery is still in there. Don't drive her regularly but she starts right up and throw on a trickle charger in the winter.
Wife's car is a '17 Prius Prime and I just replaced the OEM battery this winter.
BTW the battery from the dealer was A LOT cheaper than even Walmart! Guess what battery I bought 😉

2008 Tacoma V6 factory battery lasted til 2015. Replaced with a red top Optima battery that just played out this year. Just put a $220 Auto-Zone battery in. The truck hopefully will last longer than the last battery. I think the batteries have lasted as long as they have because of the power system Toyota has. I love me some Toyota ✌️😁✌️

I kept the terminals clean ect, but the optima battery lasted longer than any other battery I've ever bought
