I have always loved driving a manual transmission when it comes to sports cars. However, different people like different driving experiences. I am okay with giving up a little bit of comfort for more control of my car, but some people want a nice, easy cruiser. I wanted to make this video to give everyone interested in buying a C5 Corvette a better look at what kind of driving experience they can expect with the different transmission options offered with these cars. I hope this was helpful!

If you’re reading this, you’re a real one! Comment below what transmission option you like best in the C5 Corvette!

Mine is a 6 speed manual. My father bought it new in 99'. When he passed away in 2016 I bought it from my mother. It's got 89k on it and I take it out on the weekends. I lovingly call it pops. I'll have it till I pass myself.

The only reason I considered buying a Corvette was getting the combination of a great engine with a manual transmission. Then I drove one and all doubt disappeared.

I have an 04 6-speed. I love looking at it, driving it and talking about it. A Corvette is a car of passion no matter which transmission you choose. Just own one and enjoy it. They all deserve the love.

I just bought a red 2002 C5 coupe with a manual transmission and 27K miles. I love it. It is faster than I expected.

Got my C5 with a auto for a good deal and currently is my daily car. I do have lots of fun with the auto but sometimes I wish I got the manual 😭

If you get the auto, get the performance rear axle. Code G92 in the glove box option sticker. Has a taller rear gear so makes it more jumpy and fun. The stock 2.73 is a snooze fest

I have a auto 3.15 and love it, just more to heavy mods, upgrade your transmission with a new stall and mod away

There is a reason manuals go for $1000-$1500 more. LOVE rowing through the gears on my ‘01. It’s like the ultimate Disney land ride that never ends

When you say manual is little more exp... I was shopping for a manual c5 base and found the price was about 3-5k more than for an auto with same miles and condition. Plus I'd say there are about 5x as many autos available vs manuals.

When I was searching for my C5, on the top of my priority list was a manual. The four-speed is a decent transmission in the Chevy Silverado of this era but not so in the catfish Camaro or the C5. The manual is actually not that bad to drive in bumper to bumper traffic, your left leg does get used to it but admittedly it is not the best situation for the clutch to be in.

I have a 2001 with the manual! I LOVE it! I learned to drive with a 3 on the tree! This Vette is my first manual in a LONG time!

Going to pick one up later this year as my first car purchase, stuck between the two right now. Wouldn’t mind either tbh

My 2000 base is a 6spd and it is night and day different from an automatic. I have 147k and it still has its original clutch no slipping or other problems. I live in Southern California and daily drive in traffic without issues. In fact, I use my brakes far less than in an automatic often just staying in second gear. The manual transmission on these cars are so forgiving you could teach a 16 yr old girl to drive it. In fact, if you dump the clutch, the 5:41 car refuses to stall, even starting out in 2nd or 3rd gear. Manuals get far better gas mileage. Finally, for any performance driving the manual is far superior.

Thank you so much for this. Your presentation was great. I’ve never had an automatic in all my driving years. I wouldn’t know what to do with my left foot😊. I learned to drive on a 1950 ford tractor. I know to double clutch as well.
