Join us for a thought-provoking session exploring the links between school funding and housing opportunities in Connecticut. In this session, we will explore the ways in which access to affordable housing is related to school funding and how this is associated with the educational achievement and outcomes of students. Additionally, we will discuss the division among Connecticut’s 169 municipalities on the basis of race and wealth, and the inequitable funding seen between neighboring communities.

During the session, presenters also be take a closer look at how Connecticut funds education and the changes made over the years. We will be sharing the successes and challenges we’ve encountered, and explore the work to be done to improve school funding and educational opportunities for all students.

After attending this session, participants will leave with a better understanding of how Connecticut funds education, and how important housing and education policy are for promoting greater equity and opportunity in our communities. Promoting housing opportunities for all families will ultimately lead to better educational opportunities and outcomes for children, while addressing core issues seen in Connecticut, such as segregation in education and the funding disparities among different communities.
