I love my PRS guitar but it has the worst tuning stability of any guitar I have ever owned. In this video I fix it and show you how to fix it.

I have the same issue with a SE custom 24-08 I bought a couple months ago. My first thought was the issue was in the bridge spring mechanism in the back of the body. Never would guess a nut would cause it but I will try some lubrication first. A little leery to start filing. With my luck I’ll screw something up.

@2:45 Are you saying to put a lighter/lower gauge or a higher/thicker guage? If it comes with 10's, pretty sure mine are 9-46-ish though, and I wanted a thicker guage, I'd use 10-52's or something.
That said this guitar is really irritating. I can tune the first three strings, go back and my low E is already out of tune again. Has anyone ever hit the low E open and then do a bend on the g string? the E note will flatten in a rough proportion to the depth of your bend. I think the problem is the bridge. Mine does run what looks to be perfectly parallel with the body but sits (floats?) nearly 3/16" higher than the body of the guitar.

I bought mine used, and it had Grover locking Tuners installed by previous owner…automatic ones…you just put the strings in and it locks…it’s like magic.

Love everything about mine but i also has this issue and its such a shame! Gonna try your tips when i put in new strings. Do you think the tuners have something to do with this problem too? They are supposed to be "good" but idk. Also, do you think this is enough to get rid of the problem 100% or should i think about changing the nut and the tuners too? Loved your video, cheers!

With locking tuners may fix the problem too?

That tool looks a tip cleaner for cutting/welding nozzles. Just thought it might be easier to find if people know what its called.

Both my brother and I bought SE Custom 24s and suffered the same tuning issue. I just went on to the PRS site and bought a "real" nut, they are only a few bucks. Problem solved. I also bought a new jack plate and jack because the ones on the SE are a little weak. Super simple upgrade. Seriously, just chuck out the hollow plastic nut that comes with the SE (or my one anyway) and upgrade to a solid "Graphtec" type as used on the core models.

Thanks for doing the video. Now that you're a year out, did the issue resolve, or is it still a problem?

Ive got a 2019 prs se custom 24. Always goes out of tune with every bend during playing. Every time. I've installed ultra light gauge strings. I've installed locking tuners. Keeps going out of tune, frustrating.

Hi does anybody know if this guitar nut has been improved (September2022) with an improved Graphtec nut straight from factory?

That Joe reference was pretty funny. Thanks for the vid brother. Having same issue. Just put Ernie Ball 10s. You would think considering they ship with 10s that 10s would fit out of the gate… 🤦‍♂️ They must us math like lumber! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 It’s actual 9.25” but hey, we’ll call it 10!

I wondered if I was the only one who had tuning issues on this model?

PRS SE Custom 24 come with 9s from the factory, not 10s.

It's the same with everything that comes from the manufacturing sector now. Poor quality with an attitude.
