***3/12/22 addendum: The assertion at 3:15 that FILM is the only suitable method for photographing a crime scene is now outdated. With the advent of much better digital photography as well as the ability to spot manipulated data, most crime scene photographers have fully transitioned to Digital photography at this time. Thank goodness that technology continues to advance and develop!

its so easy to take picture with a digital camera, photoshop them, print it in high resolution, and flat copy it with a film camera. I think taking digital and showing its metadata and digital log is so much more harder to fake.

In my opinion, the images created by digital cameras have the metadata. Once an image has been manipulated, the metadata will be changed. This ensures the originality of digital images.

Most crime labs/agencies have switched to digital due to a lack of film processing services—9 yrs forensic photographer/3+yrs forensic photography instructor.

Wouldn't shooting in the camera's raw format be the same as using film negatives? Unless you are having prints made with an enlarger, all negatives are digitized prior to being printed or stored as a digital file.

I've been shooting and developing film for a few years and had no idea that forensic photography was done in film still! How might someone find a job doing this? Is it universal that people will be using film or does it depend on where you might work?
