Crime of the Century, released in 1974, was Supertramp’s breakthrough album & Roger Hodgson's song, Dreamer, became the band’s first international hit. Enjoy this video of Roger discussing the creation of the Crime of the Century album & the recording of his timeless classic, Dreamer. Roger’s other songs off the album, School, Hide in Your Shell & If Everyone Was Listening, are fan favorites to this day. Roger also gave us the timeless classics such as Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture - Roger performs these & more on tour. Audiences love dancing & singing along - the crowd instantly gets on their feet & starts dancing in the aisles. To see Roger on stage performing, you know not only is the audience having a fantastic time, but he is as well.

"No words to describe how wonderful was being down there in the public singing, jumping, dancing & playing with you like everybody was just one single person. I was not born when you wrote your music, but since I was 12 & listened my first Supertramp album, I feel touched by every single music of yours."

"Roger gives his heart & thus touches the hearts of his audiences. He comes out on stage & the connection is immediately there - everyone uplifted. You have to experience it, feel it yourself- human language lacks the words to describe it."

"There were smiles. There was joy. There were tears as he sang the songs that helped us through the bad times. The melodies & harmonies can not be replicated except by the master himself.. This, my friends, is the music that connects all of us. It was a dream come true to see him, I suggest all do the same."

This album is so beautiful, it's amazing how all of the songs work together and end up seeming to be connected.  There isn't a weak moment!  Crime has been there for me in hard times and happy times, and the themes in its songs continue to inspire my art and life.

The stars and planets definitely lined up for this album!!! Quite possibly the 'Album of the Century'! A formidable pair, Roger and Rick truly complement each other's songwriting and singing styles on "Crime of the Century". Roger's "Dreamer" and Ricks "Bloody Well Right, " gave us our first glimpse of songs that would soon become classics worldwide and spanning generations. The balance of Roger's and Rick's songs, perfectly placed on this album, created an amazing compilation that went straight to number one in many countries including Canada! This is a fantastic album, and if you've never seen Roger Hodgson perform live I urge you to go! All of the hits by Supertramp that were written by Roger are performed with amazing precision and musicianship and quite honestly, Roger's voice is better now than ever. What a treat the new remastered and remixed this album is. If you don't already have it, you should get it before it is sold out!

One of THE great albums of all time. I can't think of another album in which the two songwriters works complimented each other so perfectly. BOTH were magnificent and BOTH continued to be in subsequent albums

I was in high school when I discovered Supertramp. 40 years later, I have not heard a better album song for song. From epic vocals to ballads to searching for Meaning and God and brilliant piano and sax, this album stands alone in my books. I think the title track is pure genius and one of the greatest songs ever written. There are some songs that have iconic openings like Thunderstruck and some songs like Crime that have iconic and epic finales. The saxophone at the end of Crime to end the song and the album is truly a masterpiece.
I'm a big fan of rock and alternative music and of all the great rock pianists I've ever heard - from Elton John, Billy Joel, Chris Martin from Coldplay and a few others, I think Roger is the very best. School has some of the best rock piano EVER.

I've been going to concerts for over 40 years and of all the concerts I've ever been at, seeing Roger Hodgson in Denver in the late 90's with maybe 500 - 1000 in the audience was probably the biggest thrill of my life. I even had a chance to meet him backstage. Truly an honor. Roger Hodgson is simply one of the most brilliant artists in the last 50 years and I can't wait to see him again.

Crime of the Century is one of the best albums in history. All that songs sound so fresh and new even today. Can't stop listening to Dreamer, it's so catchy. And, Hide in Your Shell, so special for many of us. I remember very well the first tiem I heard School, it was a really blast, and still is. :)

One the land mark albums.   A must have.  I still remember listening to every single track on this in 74.  And i was 9 at the time!!
One of the things that always amazed me about it was the quality of the recording.  Even when i was a little kid i knew i was listening to something just a little bit more "special" than what was out there at the time.

one of my favorite albums of all time; I used to play the song 'If Everyone was Listening', which is one of rogers' songs I played for my high school in the late 70s; I dedicated it to my theater arts teacher, who not too many people in our high school liked. I think that year, I turned many, including her, into Supertramp fans.  My teacher inquired about Supertramp, and the name of the album, which she bought right after.

This album helped forge by path in life.   Discovering this band and the albums that followed while a teenager in the late 70's, I was able to see them in concert 3 times in Toronto Canada.  Magic indeed.  an understatement.   Thank you.  And about awesome posts below.   We indeed are all connected out there.   "Take a dream on a sunday, dream
