I assume the red line on the foil means the foil in the factory was coming to an end for that strip and for the foil to be replaced, the fact that these packs cost so much is mind boggling and straight up robbery

I spent years operating a machine similar to the ones that wrap pokemon cards. The red tape is how the film manufacturers make a full roll of film when it tears or they reach the end of one of their larger rolls. Its called splice tape

If I got my hands on this kind of pack I would just keep it sealed forsure and put it in a nice large top loader. All the value seems to be in the uniqueness/obscurity of the foil pack sleeve. Can’t believe so manny made it into circulation 😮

It is a splice in the foil roll in the factory. They usually use red tape to splice two rolls together.

The red tape is a splice in the foil from the factory that produces the foil. Can also be found on goldfish quite often. I've ran those machines in the past and have had two to three splices on a single roll. Where our rolls would last 2 hours and produce roughly 140 packages a minute.

the red strip come from the plastic roll that use to wrap the cards, it's actually no big deal. i see so many of those tape from my work and we actually call those error and cant be produce

Its splice tape, when printing the roll of foil runs out and to keep the press running without shutting down you spice a new roll of foil into it. usually those splice tape pieces are scanned while the press is running and discarded

Imagine working at a Pokémon card factory and be able to make these and error pack and take all the hits and like give 6 hits in one pack to someone (it’s always been my dream since I was able to know about Pokémon cards)

The tapes purpose is to alert the factory worker that either paint, paper, or other ingredients to the cards are running low and need to be changed.
