This is Maria Leony Denagiba's story. It's also the story of hundreds of land and #environmentalrights defenders in the Philippines, one of the most dangerous places in the world to fight for #landrights -- even though the state has passed an agrarian reform programme to redistribute land to farmers.

🎤 “[Land owners] terminate the farmers once their position is in favour of the agrarian reform, and they use the courts, the police, in order to harass the farmers," Armando Jarilla, National Coordinator of ILC member Task Force Mapalad National Peasant Federation, told us.
