the yellow spinning light does not only mean you got a message! it also means you got a notification!
and the pulsing/spinning green light means you are having an incoming call or you are making a call!

I'm always freaked out in the middle of the night when my dot turns red and there's isn't any connection to the internet so it makes the noise and phrase: Sorry, it seems like your echo dot lost connection to the internet. Please try again later.

Red light on- Mic off. Red Light Blink- No internet access
Yellow light blink- New notification
Purple light blink- DND On
Dark blue light blink- Bluetooth On/off
Light blue and dark blue light blink- Talking Alexa
Dark blue with small light blue light moving like eyeball- Speak to alexa
Green light spin- Incoming call
