'I'm Thinking of You' - Kevin Rowland of Dexys Live on A-Sides

"I think I was in some ways a prisoner of my past," say Rowland. "I didn't just want to put out any old album, just for the sake of making an album. It had to be right." Dexys Midnight Runners, who originally formed in 1978, began gaining popularity with their single "Geno" off their debut album Searching For The Young Soul Rebels in 1980. They later became an international phenomenon with the 1982 release of Too-Rye-Ay, which featured the #1 international classic "Come On Eileen." With two additional Dexys albums, two solo albums and a series of successful UK tours, Rowland & Co. are opening the curtain to the second act of their career in grand style.
Initially released in the UK, the new album has already been hailed as a masterpiece. "One Day I'm Going To Soar is the soul album of the century", declared Simon Price of The Independent. "A burning, vivid, typically candid record which defies the received logic that artists of that vintage can only impart placid wisdoms." The album was co-produced by co-producers Mick Talbot and Pete Schweir and rose to #3 on BBC Music's Top 25 Albums of 2012. The album's first single "Incapable of Love" is witty and frank, while the captivating follow-up, "She's Got A Wiggle," showcases Rowland's richly seasoned, yet smooth, voice. Other standouts include "Lost" (co-written with Blur's Alex James) and the album-closing anthem "It's Ok, John Joe."
