The Expanse only gets better and better. Rocinante's crew just start getting close to your heart.
I'd say there really is not a villain per se; but a set of circumstances the crew fight against.
This is by far my favorite Scifi series.

Just finished reading Tiamat's Wrath last night. Parts had me teared up, others shaking with adrenaline, and still others sighing in relief. Hands down favorite series.

Interesting -- Caliban's War was one of my favorite entries so far (only one more book to come.) I liked the angle as a political thriller, shifting gears from Leviathan Wakes's noir detective style. I really like Bobbie, Avasarala, and Prax.

Frank and Abraham definitely draw a lot on Asimov's sci fi tradition of having dangerous circumstances and perhaps competing factions without necessarily always having villains (though the series doesn't lack for those.)

It's not about the protomolecule. It's about what the protomolecule has to offer.

Listened to this on audio while I was powering through lab work- Got through 4 expanse novels and 2 Dresden Files(es?)

Also Chrisjen is easily my favourite character in the series so far!

Each Expanse book has it's own distinct/ different tone and feeling.
Each one has a unique theme of it's own.
I love that about them.
Just hang in there in regards to the proptmonclue, try not to have too many preconceived notions about it.
It might really suprise you ;)

The whole politics aspect definitely gets better with every book🤔🤔 In general The Expanse gets better with each new entry!

I think what might have hurt the narrative complexity of Caliban’s War was simply the time table the writers had to work with. Leviathan Wakes had as much time as the authors wanted to craft the intricate twisting plot and perfect it. Caliban’s War came out a year later. They probably had to simplify things a bit to fit the deadline.

The Expanse is awesome. Bobbie is the best thing in this book!

You haven't got to the book were you realize why this series is call the expanse, basically the first 3 books are the prolog of the story 😂

I think Holden is what Richard from Sword Of Truth should have been. He's unflinchingly moral and genuinely good, but still complex and flawed. I loved the scene where Fred verbally bitchslapped him down when he went to give a big accusatory good guy speech. BAM, consequences! It's beautiful.

Subsequent books in the series definitely increase the complexity of the political situation, can't wait to see what you think of them!

I started Leviathan Wakes and am about 17% of the way through (according to kindle). I'm enjoying it so far!

So I’d probably say books 3 and 4 are the slowest in the series - definitely still worth the read because of how they expand the universe and set up what’s to come - but books 5 and 6 are top tier expanse imo

The Expanse is one of my favorite series for two major reasons:
A) Each book has a distinctive feel while still fitting in with the rest of the series. Leviathan Wakes is a mystery, Caliban's War is a political thriller, Cibola Burn is an exploration story, Nemesis Games is a Roland Emmerich movie, etc.
B) The writers aren't afraid to really shake up the status quo. Every book brings massive changes to the societies James S. A. Corey created.

Can’t wait to see you get through Abaddons Gate, which is one of my favorite books in the series. It’s a very different story from the previous two, and the stakes are more unique and riveting in my opinion. A great book

How is the villain relatable in the first one? Dude sacrificed 1.3 million people.

I would look at the series in three book archs, the “pm” is like the first arch, the next three books are another arch and so on...

This has to be my favorite book in the series. The reason being it introduces Avasarala.
