the ablity to remove the disc drive is actually a good thing in my eyes, the thing that breaks the most is normally the disc drive, to swap it out for another one or have sent a replacement is much easier then buying a new console or sending it in to get fixed.

They should’ve made a PS5 Pro with and without a disc drive, and priced them $100 more than their standard counterparts.

700 is crazy the PS5 was 500 plus memory add on another 500.

$700 for 4 year old hardware and a slight GPU bump, Sony has been smoking some series stuff to think this is a good idea. This should be priced at $499 and the PS5 slim should be marked down to $299.

All of my PS5 games are digital so obviously I won’t miss the disc drive anyway, and I think 2TB of SSD is way better than 1 TB storage + optical drive.

Of course the price of $700 is a bit steep for some people but then again makes the PS5 slim, which by no means a crappy console, absolutely a better buy. I don’t mind having to play at lower resolution to achieve 60 fps, and statistics show that roughly 75% of PS5 owners are leaning towards higher frame rates anyway. Sony is just giving to those who want the best of both worlds, high frame rate at 4K. Like Marques said, it’s cool that you don’t need to compromise of anything given you are willing to pay for that luxury of not compromising.

The standard PS5 will continue to outperform the market like it always does and that’s the point of having the PS5 Pro at that high price tag. Good luck buying a brand new $700 gaming PC just for the sake of playing video games at the no-compromise-performance of the PS5 Pro.
