How to BLOW UP Your Chest with Tri-Sets

What's up guys!

It's Mike with Sixpack Shortcuts and do you know what today is?? CHEST DAY! I just hit some biceps for a different video, so you may recognize my clothes - good thing you can't smell me!

Pay attention to this workout, and even write it down, because I'm on a mission to blow up my chest! So follow me with workouts like this one you'll soon have a chiseled chest and be that much closer to the body of your dreams!

Workout Breakdown:
3 Movements / 6 - 8 Reps / 5 Rounds of all 3 Movements / Minimal Rest Time

- This routine today is what we call a "tri-set."
1) Chest Press:
- Sit back on an incline bench with your arms at a 90 degree angle.
- Take a breath and as you breathe out push up to straighten out your arms and touch the dumbbells together at the top.
- Bring them back down, no lower than that 90 degree angle and repeat.
2) Chest Fly
- Start sitting back on the incline bench again but this time with your arms already extended in front of your face.
- Think about bringing your hands away from each other on this one and really open up that chest.
- You should bend your elbows and bring that weight down so your arms are below 90 degrees - or - as far as your body will allow to safely push the dumbbells back up.
3) Push Ups
- Start in a pike postion with your hands directly below your shoulders.
- Lower so that your chest and legs touch the ground at the same time, then push back up and repeat.
- This will get tougher as the routine professes, so just get through it and move on to your break.

1:38 **TIP**
- Notice how I'm lifting the dumbbells, to prevent a back injury be sure that your knees are bent and that your chest is out. This way you can just stand straight up to lift with your legs and not your back.

There you go guys! This was a great chest workout today, I'm super pumped and really feeling it.

And for those of you who can easily build your shoulders, but lack on your chest, it's not that you're using bad form you just need to change your form to what works for you to target your chest.

Excellent workout Mike! I gotta do this next chest day (just did chest yesterday). I feel so proud of myself too. I push 60 lbs on incline dumbell press too. Started doing 30s, now I'm doing 60s  (can do 4-5 reps with 80s on flat dumbell press, started at 30s!) These workouts are great!!!

I appreciate this video a lot. It helped me fix my form on chest exercises. What I was doing wrong clicked and now I press from lower on my chest. It's made all the difference, focusing the exercises into my chest instead of putting most of the strain on my shoulders.

Cool triple workouts for the chest. The main thing I have learned is to ISOLATE THE MUSCLE. If you are using your other body parts to cheat (swing) the weight up, then the muscle is not isolated any longer. You are distributing the weight between other muscles.

Same with your bench press. If the bench is flat, and you are in good form, you are lifting the weight at a 90* angle. But if you are arching your back, you are NOT lifting at 90* degrees any longer. You have changed the degree to, say, 75* degrees. Now you are NOT isolating the same area of that muscle.

I also stopped lifting for reps. I now use "Time Under Tension". I set my timer for 50 seconds, give it a 10 second delay from the time I press the start button (to get myself and the weights ready) and lift till the end timer beeps. No more counting. I just concentrate on clean form, and wait for the beep.

Mike, if you wanna blow up your chest, do 5X5 pause bench (retract the scapula), incline dumbell press, OHP. Maybe do some flyes just to hit the fibers a bit more and weighted dips. If your bench is lagging, strengthen the triceps with dips, tricep extensions, close-grip bench. Always progressively overload, eat in a slight surplus (track your macros), and get plenty of sleep.

Great vid Mike, I will definitely use this workout on Monday.
Another workout I do is 5 sets of push up sliders
5 sets EROM flys
And 5 sets of explosive pushups.
And maybe some presses.keep up the awesome vids dude!
