There are two ways to build on Social Media. One is to focus on gaining followers, and the other is to focus on building a community. The first one is easier to do, you can spend money on advertising, sponsored posts, amplification, and your numbers will grow over time. But what happens when you gain these followers ? Many people just want to have numbers for the sake of it. But I believe that numbers are only impactful when you make a positive difference in the lives of the people behind those statistics. Your social media following is not just a numbers game. These are real humans, with real stories, and real experiences. I’m a believer in building community. There’s a quote from Margaret Mead that says “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has”. Social media is a world with multiple nations, and you should never underestimate the power of the citizens within your nation. Building community is a 2 way street.
