Gary Neville refuses to shake Peter Schmeichel's hand before the Manchester derby

Having left Manchester United in 1999, Peter Schmeichel joined rivals Manchester City in 2002. Gary Neville refused to shake his former teammate's hand when the two captains met in the tunnel ahead of the Manchester derby in November 2002.

Fun Fact: Peter Schmeichel is undefeated in Manchester Derbies. During his nine years with Manchester United, they were undefeated against Manchester City, while in his 1 and only season with City, they won at Maine Road and drew* at Old Trafford.

What I see is Peter tapped on his shoulder and asked him to move, Gary thought it was someone going for a handshake so he automatically went for one, when he realised he was just being asked to move he moved the hand away, but at the same time, Peter saw the hand and then went for the handshake which was already being retracted

That’s not what happened.

Schmeichel asked Gary if he minded if they moved to the other side (so he did).
Gary thought that someone was trying to shake his hand, so he got a little confused.
You can also see Schmeichel pointing to the other side when de says “Do you mind?”
