Jeremy Clarkson has done more for British Agriculture in a few weeks than television and media in general has done since the 1970s. When on Sunday Mornings Farming had its own program, Farming Today.
Country File and Adams Farm have either portrayed Farmers as, Cloth Cap wearing Straw Chewers, or Landed Gentry, which ever stereotyped character suited the pitch at the time by people who don't have the slightest clue on Agriculture in general or the people actually involved.
In a round about way Farmers have been portrayed as, villains and wrongdoers taking part in nefarious countryside activities which seems to have, a left wing outlook.
Crop failures, Broken farm machinery Battling with weather conditions with so little time, the heartache, laughter and the very real ultra skilled, dedicated golden characters that are involved in this industry.
A well done and many thanks to everyone involved in Jeremy's Farm. Something like this has been long overdue.

He’s done far more than anybody including the NFU to make the public aware of the state of British farming.

Spot on. I have a small farm in Lancashire. Jeremy is the typical townie thats come into a large farm and then realised how farming is so hard. Well done Mr Clarkson.

People don't realise how complicated farming is, and how much hard work and heartache is involved.

My cousin who is a farmer paid me a visit last Monday. We only planned to stay for dinner. I put on the first episode he was hooked. I went to bed at midnight and as I was leaving for work the next morning he was still watching but now with 4 of his friends. They were enthralled. No one even said good morning.

I did like how he acknowledged how difficult it was to make a profit in farming (£144), and him saying that unlike other farmers, they don't have Amazon behind them. I knew how difficult farming was, but never knew what the costs were involved, they were eyewatering at times.

Caleb and Gerald were the real stars. Clarkson pretending to be a doofus and actually showing real emotion was a surprise. Roll on series 2, can’t wait.

It is brilliant
He’s highlighted the struggles uk farmers have in a fun informative way
Some have suggested in should be on mainstream tv but that would result in it being half the program it is now after the pc brigade jump all over it
Looking forward to series 2

Its absolutely brilliant. So glad we’re getting another season. Gave me even more respect for farmers and found it all so interesting and it had really funny moments too

It's one of the best programmes on TV ever made, it's informative and amusing and should be part of the curriculum. Many people just don't realise where their food comes from or appreciate the challenges that farmers face in producing it.

A very well presented and balanced review, and practically all of it done on one unscripted take. Brilliant!

Jeremy Clarkson has never been an idiot. He is a smart operator - and indeed, he had the money from his career to make it work (or not). Making fun of himself, or having people make fun of him, has always been the key to his success. Self mockery taken to a fine art - and so many of the people to tend to hate Clarkson always miss that point. There has always been a lot more going on than what shows on the surface. He certainly opened my eyes to the hardships and difficulties of farming - not something I had ever given a moments thoughts to. More power to him.

The budgetary stuff that you mention (i.e. that Amazon helped a lot) is something that Clarkson briefly touches on in the last episode during the accounting scene. Personally, I would say his voice cracking/throat tightening when he mentions this and says it's something most farmers cannot conceivably ever hope for, was probably the most genuinely touching moment of the series.

Love everything Clarkson has ever done. This is right up there with my favourites.

I know he is a marmite man but as a farmer i liked how explained the issues we face in a language most people can understand. I'm looking forward to the second series to se where he takes it

Wonderful review, growing up in North Dakota I really enjoyed seeing how farming is practiced in different part of the world. Certainly entertaining and so sneakily educational.

I have watched the series and enjoyed each and every one of them.Typical Clarkson style with a lot of unexpected seriousness from him. A great cast of characters to help him, loved it all and glad series 2 will be made.

This should be a lesson for all governments throughout the world. Keep your hands off our farmland. Farmers are heroes not villains. Thank you Richard.
