Out of all the PHEVs on sale at the moment, is the Skoda Octavia the best all rounder?

the little cubby hole @ 5:45ish .. it's fed cold air from the A/C & a 330ml can fits in perfectly .. this week best feature of my Skoda

I’ve had 5 Octavias. Loved them all. They do have a personality - it just grows slowly over time. The only thing that would make me look at a car to replace our Soul EV at the moment would be an Octavia estate EV.

I totally agree with your comments about taxis; if you want to know which dealership is best in any area, check out the taxis

Cracking vid as per usual! Love your vids and nice to see your reassurance review for a car that I have.
I have the Vrs Phev and its such a great family car. Coming from a golf r estate not wanting to sacrifice too much fun but wanting electric yet with insecurities of committing to a full electric vehicle, the octavia is brilliant. Im even prepared to say "The" best car in VAG group! Interior much more premium than VW and Audi (bar the sometimes frustrating infotainment system), the added quirky touches that a Skoda has and it has been a pleasant, enjoyable dabble into electric vehicles.
I am fully prepared to say that after this car I will go for a full BEV based on such a good experience so far. By then I am sure there would also be improved electric charging infrastructure and a more competitive market of choice of large family BEV and performance vehicles 👍
Thank you for your effort and commitment to providing is with quality and enjoyable vids.

Great review. Also worth noting for company car drivers that this car is only 7% BIK... better than the majority of BMW, VW and Audi equivalent PHEV's (just a shame the VRS is 11%)

The main issue I have with a lot of the PHEVs is that you can't rapid charge them. I have the Outlander PHEV as I can plug it into Chademo and have 80% in 20 minutes. Alright it only gives me an additional 25 miles range, but if the battery is low, I can at least use EV power in towns. My next car will be an EV, but for me the Outlander is the best of all worlds currently. As usual great content.

10:45 From my observations, the battery saves fuel (costs) when extra power / acceleration is required. Not just on short drives.

Would like to hear how happy you are after 2 years, skoda have just taken mine back to factory due to the amount of issues its had, .ine done 86k in 30 months, loved it when it worked but hundreds of electrical issues

12:57 - price. £34k list - available for £28k. Seems a lot for a dying technology when I can get an Enyaq 62kWh ecoSuite with a few decent options for £34700 without trying. Other than I really don't like SUV's! The only EV 'estate' is the not a proper estate MG5 and they are out there for £22k new (albeit pre-reg).

Come on Skoda. Lets see the your battery estate!

Traditional Skoda values. Very practical family car, useful EV range. I like it. Very fair appraisal by yours faithfully. SH they will be great value.. 👍

Looking forward to my first electric car, my current car is a petrol Octavia Estate and it is amazing for all the same reasons. Just driven from Hampshire to St Ives and back with the family and it covered the journey easily. I'd be happy with a a full electric but you are so right about the hybrid's needing to be more like the i3.

Love EV’s but you’re right some cannot accommodate them. Love the show and was taking the piss a bit as I know you made this point loads of times. Sorry but couldn’t resist. Keep going with your great show. . By the way, I live in the west of Ireland and the weather is worse than Yorkshire believe it or not.

The volume control also can zoom in-out in map navigation for example.
There's also some other functions +/- In menu etc.

Lot of snidey comments on here. I'm currently on holiday in my Niro phev. I've seen one charge point all week and can't get anywhere near a socket to plug in and charge.
If anything 3 years of phev ownership have taught me the time's still not right to go full EV, unless I want to spend most of my holidays hanging round service stations in the hope a charge point is there, free and actually working.

The gap in the cup holder is for the key and used for hard reset when you start the ignition. My alarm was going off and only way to reset it was to put it in that area, there is a sensor underneath

So when the battery has no charge does that mean the car only relies on its engine and bhp falls dramatically?
