I found an alternate way to get this ending. When you talk about the choices with the Starchild choose all the lower right options. Although I think shooting him is funnier.

I have honestly had sleepless nights thinking about mass effect. I've done like every possible ending with every squad mate, LI, and whatnot, and like... all the endings are so cool. For the starchild if you listen you can hear femshep, maleshep, and the regular starchild's voice which further convinces me that it's her consciousness she's talking to. However, with the highest EMS and doing the synergy ending I felt it was the best one. I really liked her speech at the end of the synergy choice.

Selfless is a good option, it was originally the reaper plan and saren's but life wasnt ready for it originally, for instance they say (roughly) that they just killed life when they tried to create synthesis, they can't just make life become the perfect time for synthesis, life at the end of me3 was ready. Plus to prove my point, when saren becomes synthesis he becomes corrupt as he has joned with the reapers, so he only see's the view of destruction

it's amazing that they actually created this secret ending, the developers surely were aware that the child was insanely irritating so they assumed some of us (specially if playing as renegade) would try to shoot it/kill it; just another great element of the DLC extended cut

control: best ending universe-wise, Reapers under mind control help rebuild everything including the relays.
destroy: Shepard survives, yay.
synthesis: you turn everybody into the Borg against their will. real nice.
refuse: trololo!
-i fight for freedom and democracy!
-fuck you.

i was talking about the destroy ending and the other guy.

Except destroys version is the cartoon/comic super villain version ie "kill allot of people to win a fight".
and the actual meaning is about 1 person knowingly sacrificing themself so everyone can live. ie "Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not."

actually control is the borg end the reapers were always under mind control. the spike were the actual turn them into borg's one though.

im sure nobody noticed but isn't this ending how me1 starts?

the points of the entire series were:
1 the good guy sacrifices themselves(1 person) to keep everyone else alive, ie the real meaning of "needs of the many" line me1 me3.
2 Actually pay attention to the entire story, which is how you unlock the different endings.

The destroy end is like committing multiple genocide's and saying "its for peace" or "it was worth it" to cut everyone else off effectively ruining ALL relations with the remaining races and erasing any good you did up to that point.

Destroy makes the most sense to me. As for control, I guess the reapers rebuilt ALL the mass relays in the galaxy in a few days?

you obviously missed the part where this shepard put a bullet inside the starchild :p

Destroy as Shepard lives, and with Refusal the Reapers are defeated as the stargazer ending.

another odd thing.
Control is basically goku at the end of gt.
Synthesis is just plain, "all information is freely flowing" as opposed to keeping things hidden and nobody gets screwed over.
Destroy is obviously every super villains choice, temporary/fake peace by committing xenocide.

Destroying them is the least beneficial choice, though. (Well, besides refusal)

With Control and Synthesis, you get the knowledge of tens of thousands of cultures that came before. Synthesis also allows for limitless biological possibilities as well. Destruction is just... well, destruction. You win, period, but then you have to deal with the other consequences: loss of the relays, Geth dead, worlds destroyed. Keeping the Reapers alive fixes all of this easily.

your choice.
Didn't the reapers build the mass relays?

HeroToxiko

Well, control and destroy sound exactly like ozymandias's(watchmen) plan google it.
Actually stars favorite ending is refuse, which is why the reapers had so many cycles. not to mention every other scenario was demonized by the varying levels of npc sanity.

who the hell is that guy? that's not shepard. no wonder he screwed up everything
