Three things stood out to me: (1) the drop in oil prices not only has a consequence for funding the Texas budget, but I am reading the same in regard to Nigeria where I have some limited experience. In Africa the failure to fund the federal budget carries the risk of social revolution and institutional chaos. Thoughts of Libya and Syria come to mind (though for different reasons, but desperate people do desperate things). Does this mean possible political change in Texas (or worse?); (2) Nigeria gets around the lack of milk by supplying the need with powdered milk (95% of milk is bought this way). Can the dairy industry convert to this method eventually instead of a more excessive cut in production? It seems that economists have a lot to say to that industry and many others. (3) Thank you for the observation that a changed economic order might revalue various occupations. Perhaps future wages for sports athletes will look more like that of school teachers and doctors, nurses, and grocery workers fare much better than they do now. R. Lillo
