I find it fascinating that he prefers the quiet heroes. I am sure he would be surprised to find that he is a quiet hero himself. He lives such an admirable life. Faithful and supportive husband, attentive father, responsible caretaker of the earth, well-spoken and concerned citizen, etc. And always a man of calm, diligence in his work, with a humorous view of himself and the world. Yet, he is a great reader and obviously a deep thinker. Quite the man to be regarded as a hero by the world...

How can I put this without gushing? I am inordinately grateful to this man for his kindness and graciousness to my dear late friend in England who passed away suddenly last March. She spoke to him several years ago at an Italian Institute event in which he was the main speaker. My friend worked as an au pair in Italy after high school so spoke fluent Italian. So when she met Mr. Firth they happily chattered away in Italian until his wife dragged him away. When she was leaving he saw her, stood up and wished her "Buona Serra!" What a gentleman! Thank you, sir.

Whenever this guy played a grumpy role he is absolutely nailing it, but when he smile, it is completely another story. Gosh. This guy is just so beautiful. 😍❤️

What an engaging speaker. He can talk about anything and I would be completely captivated. His voice, his choice of words (he admitted in an interview how punctilious he is and I had to look up the word in the dictionary) and the sincerity comes right through. I gotta get his audio book.
