Two loud-sounding and unexpected alarms shook millions across Texas awake Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
By a mere glance, the notification could have made someone think it was an AMBER Alert, but it was actually a Blue Alert.
A Blue Alert is sent out when someone in law enforcement is injured or killed and the suspect is on the run.

I think DPS may inadvertently have trained me and others to ignore these alerts. I was startled awake by four different devices in our home by a long and loud klaxon sound which screamed at 0452, waking up the whole house, including dogs and all. My heart was beating a little quickly as I woke up and tried to figure out what was happening. I'm sure a few people across Texas did have actual heart attacks or other physical problems owing to this early morning alert. I'm 500 miles away from Hall County. I got up and looked out my bedroom window. I didn't see the bad guy, so I went back to bed.

You all are way too confident in talking about how people shouldn’t ignore these alerts. You’ve conditioned people to ignore the alerts through over saturation and bad policy. YOU CHANGE NOW, improve your targeting of these alerts because you are the problem. You’re undermining your own system by making bad decisions.

Another one at 5am this morning, for something up in Hall County (never heard of it) -- 400 miles away from me.

I've now disabled all these alerts on my phone.
