We have always known that there were many survivors, Pliny talks about them getting out by ship or on foot.

Pliny The Elder and Pliny The Younger were the eyewitnesses who wrote it down. Pliny The Elder died recording the destruction.

It is nice to know some people did get out.
Thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It is reassuring to know that there were survivors of the cataclysm caused by the eruption. And also that these survivors were welcomed by in their new communities. I had no idea.

Finally, we learn something about the survivors! There were thousands of them!

So many things wrong with this "blurb." (But its neat they tracked down what some survivors did.)
1) No kidding horses/wagons weren't found in Pompeii. It was a tiny, cramped city, first founded by Etruscans with no sewer system due to the lava rock beneath it. The roads were narrow, so, just like in Rome, horses were forbidden as too dangerous in the streets.
2) Horses did NOT pull wagons at the time! They were not beasts of burden until medieval times, when the invention of the horse collar finally took pressure off their windpipes. Horses were for swift riding messengers, WAR, and chariot racing. That's it. Horses were kept in the stables/grassy track area SOUTH of the city walls. And oh yes, they spooked and took off, or were taken away to safety.

Beasts of burden that pull heavy wagon loads are OXEN. Mules/donkeys sometimes pushed the mills that ground grain for bread in the bakeries of the city. A few were found dead. Brain-dead archeologists declared them an "extinct species of horse!" to the world before they figured out the DNA test was not "normal" for a horse because they were mules!

2) Wagons pulled by oxen, like in Rome, were forbidden in the city during the day. Only at night, when the streets were cleared, did they enter and deliver goods. Foot traffic was too heavy by day. Since the eruption started at noon, just why on earth is anyone expecting wagons to be found (or horses pulling them, lol!) in the city?
It's a special level of ignorance...maybe do some research before "explaining" the "mystery" to the world...

3) Everyone knows the vast majority of the population of Pompeii and Herculaneum evacuated safely. The streets are largely empty. All bodies preserved, and there aren't that many.
Pliny the Elder was in charge of the Navy, he snapped his fingers, and the entire fleet at Miserunum, just on the opposite side of the bay, responded. Pliny organzied the world's first governmentally-orchestrated evacuation of a natural disaster area. He saved tens of thousands of lives.
Everyone knew this as a fact, even in the year 1900. Unfortunately, this knowledge gave a false sense of security to people living near volcanoes. The people of Martinique did not evacuate close to a volcano, and everyone died in one of their major cities except for 2 people. They thought, like with Pompeii, the mountain would give ample warning for them to leave.
Please do some research, or maybe, pick topics other than the ancient world.

Interesting the mountain had been nameless up to that point. I googled what the name means: " ... the mountain was named for Hercules, who was also known as Ves and Vesouvios, which means 'son of Ves."

Of course, people tried not to die, and sometimes succeeded at such. Limey robot.

I would purchase a book detailing the lives of different people or families who survived the eruption.

It's good to know this tragic event wasn't as tragic as we previously assumed. I'm happy that most of the people survived, making it more of a survival story than a tragedy.🎭

This person is just rehashing some other videos. They are all a lot of the same images, but not including the leading image from the thumbnail. Also, adoption was common, at all levels of society. Childless Romans adopted heirs; Moses was adopted by an Egyptian princess.

Is that a real narrator? Very shonky pronunciation and not British, too many odd stresses and emphases.

so what, the brilliant engineers responsible for the coliseum, aquaducts and roads we still have with us today, didn't get some shovels and travel down the coast and dig this city out?

Why would they have a reason to be ostracized or not be able to start a business they were the same people that came from every other place in their neighboring neighborhoods and so yes of course they were Pompeii residents but members of Greece and so they could start things like businesses anyway where are all the people in Pompeii slaves or something where they couldn't actually build themselves a new life or were they just regular people who did that? Because it sounds like you're saying they were slaves or undocumented people and there's no way they could have made it if they started over in like the next town which is 10 miles over which does not make any sense at all

I don't think adoption was abnormal because so many parents died in this age. I don't think you can even say this with any degree of certainty, because there's just no record of other people adopting but how many parents died before the children and where do those children go is there an orphanage, or did someone else take them in which is like the obvious reason. So why don't you say it's the first recorded adoption instead of the first adoption because that cannot be true. Since most people on Pompeii died

They invested in the population in Pompeii to rebuild? Or in another place to rebuild? You don't say anything to that you just say that they invested heavily into rebuilding and Pompeii was obviously not rebuilt so why don't you mention the town they were in

So tell us about the future on how they Rose From the Ashes not that two people were found in a neighboring town and somehow they weren't discriminated against. Because they weren't discriminated against because of their exact same people that came from the town right next to it. So of course they were not ostracized of course there are not in slavery of course they were not put under bondage, they literally there was no reason for any of that to happen and they did thrive in just the next town over. It's not that difficult and they were not ostracized and nothing bad happened to them if they escaped

Please, don't start with the story about the area !!! Go to the FACTS !!!

I would give a thumbs up if you actually presented some new evidence and did not talk about them as if they didn't exist and that they couldn't have existed 10 miles over in another town, they could literally have a ran to the next town and actually survived. But you act like they could not have done anything and everyone died and somehow he was he was weird survivors which was documented in like 10 countries but you only mentioned one country that they survived to and that was literally 10 Mi away. So if they actually just ran when the first volcanic eruption sounds came in the dust then they would have survive so there would have been a lot of survivors and you only mention one and there were at least 30 they were proven to survive 30 families. I think it's a very Incomplete video and makes us believe that it was inconceivable that they survive when literally when they volcano started to rumble and erupt if they ran they did survive
