Durante gli ultimi anni della vita di Bruce Chatwin il regista tedesco Werner Herzog ha collaborato con lo scrittore inglese ad alcuni progetti e fra i due è nata un’amicizia istintiva e profonda. In Nomad Herzog ripercorre le tracce dei pellegrinaggi che Chatwin ha compiuto alla ricerca dell’anima del mondo, attraversando continenti con l’inseparabile zaino che ora appartiene a Herzog, e che diventa il terzo protagonista del film.
