Day 3 learning to fly FPV with this course and this lesson was *SO* rewarding! Learning split-s is unbelievably satisfying and it feels like landmark in the development process.

I get the feeling that mastering split-s is a cornerstone of freestyle flying.

This video series is unbelievable, and I'm so grateful! Feels great! 😁

This course has been an absolute game-changer for me! I used to split my time 50/50 between just freestyling on my own and following the course, but after this lesson, I’ve realized how much of an impact it truly has on my progress. From now on, I’ll be dedicating at least 80% of my flying time to the Bardwell course (unless I get a huge urge to freestyle for fun 😄).

The split-s lesson was a real eye-opener – I was so excited to start practicing it, and to my surprise, I nailed the final stage almost immediately! A bit of practice on the docks in Uncrashed sim, and then I moved to Meadow, my second most familiar map.

On the ruins track, where I struggled with the first set of turns, I finally cracked it – turns out, the split-s was the key all along! And guess what? I beat my personal best once again! 🎉

One crucial takeaway from this lesson is the importance of cutting throttle during the roll – it helps slow down the quad just enough to make it through tricky sections. I used to keep the throttle bit up I suppose, which made things much harder than they needed to be.

This course really works, and I'm so grateful for it! I’ve supported you on Patreon with what I could as a small token of appreciation – looking forward to progressing even more. Thanks, Bardwell!

Hi Josh,

been watching your videos for beginners and i have to say you have the most excellent way of explaining the complexity of first learning to fly fpv. The majority of other you tubers try to explain and then show off at 100 miles an hour which is absolutely impossible for a newbie to follow, but you seem to have a great understanding of what its like for a beginner and take it one step at a time leaving no stone unturned. so i just wanted to say hats off to ya for having the best channel, you have taught me a hell of a lot step by step and made everything so clear and understandable. This is coming from 5 years experience with a dji gps assisted drone. so once again i salute you sir
thankyou

I just got my equipment and an Air65. I wonder if it’s easier to practice with a bigger drone outside. Actually I don’t want to use a Sim because as you mentioned it in your last video pits and rates are different anyways so the feeling will be different. I just wish I knew how much time I have while falling to learn the rolls 😅

Hoooo man. I love it but I hate myself. Once again my glider pilot reflexes make me look left ( to the wall) expecting to measure the horizon angle against the wing 😂😅

Hey Joshua,
Do you plan on bringing another Tutorial about a FPV Selfbuild Freestyle Drone out for 2024 or sould i go for the 2023 Version for Christmas next Year?

I find myself doing a roll to 90°, then yaw and pitch at the same time to kinda of spin the quad to align the path down. Is this getting too complicated? I do kinda suck at my kind of Split-S and maybe that’s why

What would you recommend learning next to be the best I can?

I had crashed my drone the other day and now the F722 FC won’t beep twice anymore. Only if hooked up to the computer using the type c connector. Does that mean the 5v reg is bad and need to just swap out the FC?

Why is it called the split S? It’s clearly the C maneuver lol
