This car holds its value extremely well in the UK. The 100 series Land Cruiser Amazon holds its value even better.

I have own Toyota Landcrusier 120 3.0 Diesel 2005 for almost 5 years now. He has 383000km on clock and is running well. I use Diesel Fuel System Cleaner | Redex in every tank. I used to own Pajero and there was problem with the engine, very common with Pajero. I ask the dealership for Pajero and they said that this problem was not fixed until 2015. I Definitely recommend Toyota Landcrusier 120 3.0 Diesel

I cracked my LC120 piston. I had a high performance tune. I was towing on the day, at high speed (120kmh), for 3 hours, on a 40C day. In hindsight there was no other outcome.

Great description of the potential problems but I think the cracked piston risk is being a little overstated, at least in Australia. The failure rates are very low here and these engines are very popular in the Hilux and Prado and many people do lots of towing in hot weather with these engines. The biggest cause of cracked pistons seems to be over fueling due to worn injectors or bad tunes. Mind you, in Australia you will lose your license on the spot for doing 160km/h and there is only one place you can do 100km/h so high speed driving for long periods doesn’t happen much at all. All up, I wouldn’t let this minor risk put you off the car, just make sure it is not damaged when you get it and replace those injectors probably every 150, 000kms.

Just goes to show that every single car on the road will give you some kind of issues. Its a machine, Toyotas not made of some special material that makes them immune to breaking down. Nothing will stop a car from breaking down if the owner is inept.

To prevent the injectors from wearing out use a can of diesel injector cleaner every now and then.

This is why I went for V6. Consumption in city is around 13.5l and on highway 10.5. Anyway parts are pretty cheap in compare to diesel. 215k and runs like charm.plan to keep it next 200k.

Thanks for this!
I'm currently considering buying one to do some camping with my girlfriend around Australia.
Also looking at Mitsubishi Pajero. Do you have any advice on those? The 3.2 T Diesel sounds reliable from what I've heard but Toyota definitely has a better reputation.
