24 Epic Campaign Games That I Definitely Don't Have Time to Play

So we get a lot of these large epic campaign games....and more and more keep coming out each year. But where do we find the time to play them? Are they glorified decorations? Games we dive into? Which ones are worth the time and energy and which aren't? I have 24 of these.....24 coming or already owned, many of these are going to have to leave.....I just don't know which ones yet.

Jaws of the Lion is great, and my group loves it, we're about halfway through and people are looking forward to Gloomhaven which I also have, one thing that makes me hesitant to start the big box, is I love the scenario book in jaws of the lion it makes setup so much quicker. They are working on a campaign scenario booklet like that for Gloomhaven and Frosthaven so I tempted to just wait for that.

also on Primal one of the main draws besides the gameplay, is how manageable the campaign is to get through time-wise

To be clear, he had said for AR, don't back 2 wave shipping; I think he meant to say don't back 1 wave shipping. 2 waves means that you will get your game in 2 separate waves, that way you don't have to wait an 2 years for your game.

The ultimate, neverending resource management campaign is KS itself, and it's a game I can't seem to win (or so my wallet claims).

Huge thing with Etherfields that people should mention: they wrote rules for a new "I'm here for the experience" mode that streamlines a lot of things and makes it less punishing, more straightforward

We have the same issue with Gloomhaven - we absolutely love it (and it was certainly the gateway into our ever growing game collection) but it's a real chore (even with the excellent Go7 organizer) to get it setup and on the table. If it doesn't get setup early in the week it doesn't get played... But when it does we truly enjoy the results of the time investment!

Maybe try the Fantasy Setup Gloomhaven Mod for TTS! It is highly scripted and excellently done honestly. Gloomhaven always looked a bit too fiddly for me, too, but now, especially during the lockdown, I have played it about halfway through already. No setup, no packing away, no searching for tokens and standees, just gameplay. Can't recommend it enough.

I’m also waiting for Oathsworn. One of my concerns is the actual table space needed to play, using their “battle flow” system. The system is unique and looks fun. It seems like there could be an alternate system which doesn’t require you to rotate cards around your character board. That’s a huge amount of space.

On the other hand, I do appreciate the companion system which allows you to play tru solo instead of four-handed solo.

good thing no one mentioned tmnt change is constant, altar quest, batman the animated series, hell boy, dark venture, core space, zombicide undead and alive, freedom five, md2, nemesis 1+2 campaigns, dawn of madness, it's a wonderful world, clank legacy, chronicles of drunagor, aeons trespass odyssey, sleeping gods, burncycle, bloodborne, pandemic legacy season 0 and solomon kane or I might start to worry

I seem to be following you. But you can add Aeon Trespass, Solomon Kane, Shadows of Brimstone, Vampire the Masquerade Chapters, Frosthaven, and Elia and Something Shiny. EEK!. I’ve just gone and bought KDM with it’s 12 expansions as well.

Not sure I know when I will play any of them, as I’m still 4, 000 miles from home. But the plan will be to start somewhere, and retire gracefully still playing them.

There are far too many campaigns for campaign games, and ain't no body got time for all of them.
When it comes time to pull out a game, we find ourselves going for competitive games most of the time. Just easier to get out, have fun, and be done.
