Nintendo: One Game Could Change Wii U's Fate - IGN News

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata believes the introduction of one game could dramatically improve the Wii U's sales situation.

Even though the GameCube didn't do well in sales, it did spawn amazing games, pikman, Mario sunshine, Pokemon Col & XD, ect. It's still my most loved console yet (love the tiny disk) but as Iwata said, one game can change it all and I belive they can do it. They bought back gaming when it was about to die an that seemed impossible so I have faith that they can pull it off.

With Mario Kart 8 Coming out this month, Super Smash Bros. U in Winter, then Bayonetta 2 sometime next year, the Wii U has 3 exclusive games that could save it

I think that people here are mistaken as to what the message was. It was just a comparison that the Gameboy sold poorly until Pokemon came out. It wasn't a confirmation or even a hint that a new pokemon game was coming out for the Wii U. At this point, Game Freak is working on OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire so I don't think a Pokemon game is coming out for the Wii U.

Satoru Iwata was just using Gameboy/Pokemon as a comparison that it can take just one good game to sell the system. We already got some good games coming out this year in Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. I'm not giving up on the Wii U and it seems Nintendo isn't either.

First person, open world pokemon game. Imagine just walking around seeing pokemon in trees, running around, in the sky, water, caves, etc. You could have your pokemon and even your pokedex on the touchpad. This would makes the wii u outsell ps4. I don't know why they aren't doing it..

1- ZELDA HD : Big 3D Open World similar in scope to Skyrim

2- SUPER METROID PRIME : Super Metroid sequel with Metroid Prime controls and 3d open world
 + Super Metroid sounds

Put Pokémon, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and Vita and Nintendo would see profits for the next couple of years no doubt.

I think he's right. I would *NEVER* get a WiiU but with the release of Smash Bros and Mario Kart, I'm going to change my mind.

Personally, i'm still waiting for a sequel to Star Fox Assault or maybe the Zelda wii U game to come out before I get another Nintendo console. Zelda and Star Fox have always been my favorite games from Nintendo. I do agree with some of the other comments though. They really need focus more on third party support because without that, they would become another Sega...

But that "one game" could be so many things... Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Smash, Mario Kart, a proper 3D Mario in its own right... The console needs all of those things!
