The radio has not been worked on. So it is “as-is”. Still working [ or - working again, thanks to some DeoxIT D-5.
AM did quite well at my location, with a very low noise floor.
A very special gift, to be sure.

My first DX-ing radio. I would also pick up local police, CB. I loved this unit as a kid :-)

The meter at the left only works when the redo is on. It indicates battery strength when there's no signal & signal strength when signals come in.

It’s probably from the late 1970s. I see the letters IC in the upper right area of the radio. Integrated Circuits began to be put into radios and electronics beginning in the mid 1970s. I had a Panasonic tape recorder and it had the “IC” badge on it and didn’t come out until 1978.

🔶** According to my client, her father gave this to her and her husband, ca: early 1970’s. So that helps to date it.
Also, in the evening, I do get a couple SW stations on the upper part of the Marine Band.

Hey Tom, nice radio! The brand name contact cleaner is DeoxIT, not Detox ;-)

Hey Tom, good video, thanks and thanks to Jeff. I would like to point out to Jeff that I grew up near St. Louis and KXOK was the station in the 60's. You all take care...

Looks like more like 1970's rather than 1960's. There are still Public safety in VHF Low and High Bands. Nice radio worth fixing.

Just got one from a yard sale today. It takes C not D batts. I can get the county sheriff on PB2 They are still on 154-155MHz...Whats the detox stuff you mentioned? My controls are very staticy.

My grandfather had a radio identical to this one. It was a good working radio and spent a lot of time listening to it.

Interesting to see the older radios. Looking forward to the other 13!

The old Montgomery Ward Radios were pretty good. Thanks to Jeff for the loan and thank you for showing it off!
