Let's talk about Chuck Bayse for a moment. In 2015 he attended a Civil War re-enactment here in Missouri, and was seen to salute the Confederate flag at the site. He has been trying to force our Columbia Public Schools Superintendent, a much respected administrator in the community and an African American, to resign because of suspicion that the 1619 Project was being taught in Hickman High School, my son's alma mater. He's targeted our Board during pandemic mask mandates. And now this.

My late brother, my son's favorite family member as a child, was scared of people who think like Chuck Bayse as well. He came out during the terror of the AIDS crisis and was careful who he shared the information with. It would have cost him his livelihood. Eventually, the inability to simply be who he was cost him his life. Trans kids are particularly vulnerable, and protecting them is a mission we should all embrace. We have terms limits to thank for the fact that Chuck Bayse will trouble us no more when he packs up his office next year and leaves our Statehouse.

Ian McKay is the voice of the OTHER Missouri...those of us who are open hearted community members who work to serve ALL citizens in our state. We will continue to lift up politicians like Rep. McKay and encourage him to run for other state offices that broaden his ability to serve.

He gave voice to exactly the pain I’ve been experiencing with my own family. My entire family has been so accepting and loving to myself and my previous partners, but they continue to vote against my equality and safety. I would NEVER vote for anyone so determined to deny other Americans equality and justice. If they were trying to stand on the necks of my family, I’d be doing whatever I had to to knock them off. Until we are all free and equal there is no greater issue.

What a great MAN, President Zelensky. He is the epitome of a leader, a truthteller, a gentle soul, who fought and encouraged his people, to do the same. Slave Ukraine and her people.
