I would add one thing to your very good video. The SSD was not recognized by Acronis Clone until I opened 'Disk Management' in Windows 10, clicked on the 'unallocated space' for the SSD and then selected to make it a simple partition. Disk Management also did a quick format. Once this was completed, the cloning software recognized the USB connected SSD and I could proceed with the cloning.

One other thing for those of you that decide to use the existing SATA drive (the one you are replacing/upgrading with a SSD) as a secondary drive on your PC, you may need to access the BIOS on your machine and change the hard drive boot order. I did as my machine attempted to boot into the old drive (that I formatted to use as a backup/data drive).

Excellent content. Gave me the confidence to install myself. Saved me $150.00 and 3-5 days of my PC being in the shop. You guys rock!

One thing to note. If you've just bought a Crucial SSD then it is blank and unpartitioned. When selecting the 'Automatic' mode as shown in the video, you don't get chance to select the 'source' and 'destination' drives, they are auto-selected for you. From the Acronis docs: "If any disk is unpartitioned, the program will automatically recognize it as the destination and bypass this
step". Also, before starting the installation I had created a 'GPT' partition table on the new drive using GPARTED.

Followed these instructions to a tee to clone one SSD to a larger one and still got numerous errors - I feel like I've been duped into spending £90 thinking I could do something that I'm not capable of.

If a dozen people are explaining that there is an issue with your instructions, then after 3 years it might be time to make a new video.

Cloning with Acronis worked fine as instructed (Thank you). However, it took three goes before it worked. I kept getting the error message 'failed to read from sector of hard disk 1'. I managed to goggle a solution. I ran the check disk routine (CMD > Run as Administrator > then enter chkdsk/r > then run). This took a few hours. Be patient. When done let your system fully boot up (or is will try to repair itself on restart). Then run Acronis. And away you go.

but what if I'm replacing a 500gb ssd with a 2tb ssd? I clonded it but it cloned the patitions as the same size leaving 1.5 gb unallocated and the option to increase the size of the partition is greyed out.

what happens if you don't clone your old drive? Is it just like doing a clean reset?

I keep getting a red X on my destination disk screen when I try to clone. I’ve ran chkdsk multiple times on my hard drive and I still get this issue. It would still let me clone, but then Windows doesn’t run properly if I try booting with the SSD. How do I get rid of the red x?

I had a great experience with it.
Thank you for these videos. Suggested to my friends to use the same product.

Do I have to initialize the disk through Windows before cloning the disk. Because when I follow steps shown here it shows Disk 2 - Not Initialized, which is not shown in this video?

I recently purchased a New Crucial SSD and I want to clone Data & OS from Old one to new Crucial SSD. But this app showing I have required that my old HDD also from this brand, So how can I transfer/Clone this ? Cause my old HDD is from another brand and new one in Crucial

Problem is, this video shows cloning the drive to a similarly sized drive. What if your new drive is many times as large? Can we install to a larger partition? Must we create a new partition to access the larger drive?

I also have a small "recovery" partition? How to move that?

It's a decent video but skips over these finer points

Videos make it look easy but it keeps failing without much explanation as to why. Trying to clone almost empty 1TB HDD onto 500GB SSD and have to get into changing partition sizes, boot outside of windows, change safe boot startup etc. This is supposed to be easy?

just to be clear, everything is still on the old drive, correct? So if something happens with the new drive you can just plug the old one back, right?

''INSTALLATION FAILED'

Solution : Window have this problem or extra safety feature which prevent crucial part of memory from access.
To disable it Goto->Window Defender->Device Security->Core Isolation-> Core isolation details -> disable it.
While installing Acronis close other window tasks and it's better to disable antivirus till cloning is over.
Crucial SSD must be pugged in via USB during Acronis installation.

Hit Like if it works for you so that this comment comes on top and others can benefitted.
