MUST DO FOR A BABY SHOWER!!
We did things a little different for my sisters baby shower and I feel like a freaking genius!

1. We meal prepped freezer meals during my sisters baby shower. It’s smart to do in general but so much love in these meals with all thr ladies at the party 🫶

2. Asked for books instead of cards. They’re practically the same price but one will last for years to come 🥹

Any other practical things you’ve done or seen for baby showers?!

I like the meal prepping idea. I've also heard of nesting parties. I love the village vibe both events create. Talk about love and support that lasts! At least for me, I'd have fond memories when I ate each meal or benefited from the nesting activities. ❤

I heard about something similar about a year ago called a “nesting party” instead of a baby shower, people come over to help you get ready for the baby. Whatever you need done around the house; put together the crib, wash baby clothes, vaccum, clean the fridge, make freezer meals etc and then eat lunch together. I told my friend that was pregnant about it and she loved the idea cause she really really didn’t want a shower. Her MIL was unsure about it being more traditional but in the end her whole family really got into it. They had over 40ppl come and go that day, even uncles coming by to clean the gutters, putting up a section of fence they hadn’t gotten around to finishing, planting flowers for them. It sounds amazing.

We had a nesting party (instead of a baby shower)for my friend, we helped her sort, clean and set up the nursery and then move her other kids to their new bedrooms. It was nice and more useful than a baby shower or sprinkle.

Love the meal-prepping idea! I've been to 3 baby showers in the last month, and here are some of the ideas that I've seen/heard that are genius!

-tie-dying burp cloths. Super cute and then you have a good stock of them!
-before the shower, buyba pack of thank-you cards. Pass the envelopes around during the shower and ask guests to write their name and address in the center of the envelope so mama can mail them afterwards. Bonus: also pass around a sticky note so guests can write what gift they brought.
-in my area, usually first-time moms get a big shower, and then for each subsequent baby, we do a diaper-sprinkle, where everyone is asked to bring a pack of diapers! It is usually a little more low-key.
-Nesting party: everyone gets together to help mama clean house, get tasks done, and set up nursery.
-Advice sharing: during a dedicated time at the shower, ask the moms there if they have a positive birth story to share. So great to hear from your village!

I’m throwing two of my friends a nesting party! It is after their baby showers and it’s intentes to be the last set up/cleaning for her home before baby arrives. We will be bringing her meals and snacks for postpartum ❤

My best friend did the books instead of cards when my middle daughter was born. She’s 8 now we still have the books- she loves them! And loves the messages her family/ family friends wrote to her before she was born!

Gosh Shayla is this another baby girl. Because you look absolutely Soooo wonderful. I had such a horrible pregnancy lol I also had a girl but I had all the medical exceptions and had to be in bed the whole time. But I did feel pretty :)

That is so awesome your kids will be so close in age, and you’re dealing with pregnancy and youll be experiencing the baby stage together! I’m not sure if my sister will have kids or not as she’s unsure, and my husbands family lives in another country, so sadly my kids may never get cousins at all (other than the one cousin they will see rarely). It’s one of many reasons we’re considering a third baby in the future.

I did this for one of my friends about 5 years ago with her first and it was so fun! In included a recipe for vegan chocolate chip cookies so she could eat them raw OR bake at will.

Edit: someone commented about unbaked flour. I'll look into preparing the raw flour. This could maybe be circumvented by using blanched almond flour cookie recipe
