Anyone looking to do this build I highly recommend a billet or cast aluminum flywheel. Rod should be safe to about 5350, 5000rpm at least. You can get an aluminum cast flywheel for $30, better to pay that than loose an engine and/or right leg. Cast aluminum flywheels are good for up to 8500 rpm typically, many people run stock flywheels to 5000+ rpm but I've seen them rip apart as little as 4300rpm.

10/54 gearing? i just got a gts 5" that came with a 35 rear. i think its awful low. 3.50 ratio seems like i need more motor or more straightaway. im short block to block, mild tilly for torque. seriously need advice before i cut my chain. the sprocket and hub are the tri star spacer n gts 3 bolt sprocket, 2025 5" rolller
