Is Star Wars Outlaws Playing It TOO SAFE?

There’s no rule that any new game that is coming out has to do something entirely new that no game has ever done before, but at times, it’s hard not to notice when a game is doing particularly little of that, especially when it’s a sizeable release coming from a major developer.

Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars Outlaws is a game that has drawn some criticism in that department of late, with some criticizing its gameplay reveals for looking like they have lifted elements from countless similar games too liberally, in departments ranging from stealth to combat and more. But how much of an issue is that really? Here, we are going to discuss all of that and more.

I don't understand why people are all of a sudden complaining that a physical disc needs an install as if it's a new thing. It's been like that for almost 11 years at this point.

No one is expecting Ubisoft to reinvent the wheel. For them to work on a huge franchise like Star Wars and end up making a good game is all what people looking for. The franchise is older than most of us. So I don’t think we’ll see anything not seen before except for visual and mechanicao upgrades from previous games. But hey they might surprise us with couple extra things. Working on massive franchises like Avatar or Starwars leaves no room for errors and that’s why they have to be as safe as possible. Fans of these franchises will still appreciate these games regadless. However I hope they are creative with their approach to Division 3.

Not everything has to be huge and groundbreaking. Some of us just want to relax and play a game. Not have our worlds shaken

I don’t think there is anything wrong with being safe. If you got a great story, great gameplay and then, that is enough. Not everyone is playing every single game that gets released or are hardcore gamers to the core. For someone who just wants to play a good Star Wars game, this looks fun.

Let’s take one of the examples you mentioned, gameplay like Uncharted. The last uncharted game came out in 2016, 8 years ago.. it just seems wrong to always have something new

That for sure...Journalists complained they can't play games on harder difficulties, so you get a watered down version AAA title to accommodate their specific needs.

Why does every game have to be hugely innovative. At no point has the developer said something like “this will change the face of gaming” or anything like that. If the gameplay is fun and the story is good then I don’t really care if it seam similar to other games.

“Looks like every other AAA game”may not be a bad thing if it’s fun and open world. The graphics look good and the only thing keeping me from buying this is the high price.

If it ain't broke dont fix it. Everyone expects every new game to have all kinds of new stuff....if the genre is good then don't mess with it. GTA is always great, wh6, because they keep making new, better looking and running versions of the same game.... because its great how it 8s.

Is it me, or do the graphics look better in this video than in the gameplay videos that’ve been getting trashed online by some?

If Outlaws is playing it safe then at least it's playing it, which is more than can be said for everyone else. Another DOA DEI game.

I just hope the game is good at the end of day

It’s funny how the same people that say a game is playing it too safe are the same to freak out when a game takes a risk…

Listen, not every game needs to do something groundbreaking or introduce a new game defining mechanic to be a good fun time, that’s the point isn’t it? To have fun, I think people forgotten that.

I think I’ll love this game. Same way I love Assassin’s Creed trilogy - Origin, best being Odyssey and then Valhalla … simple, long winded and relaxing game. No pressure but lots of content.

Same way critics didn’t like Biomutant but I loved it.
Same way critics loved Mirage and I was like 🫤 about it.

also remember Mad max? Loved it.

It just looks like the same old bland, undercooked, underwhelming experiance we've come to expect from AAA titles these days. I'd rather just keep my money honestly.

My dream Star Wars games would be a RPG with character customization and decent open world dynamics. Not too big filled with repetitive Ubisoft stuff, just right like a Rockstar game is. Bring me KOTOR 3 I don't even care when or how.

Just another ubisoft game. They have enough fans that playing it self wont matter.

I don't know why, but what they showed just doesn't work for me.

We should just call this game; Star Wars : Jennifer Lopez

If the creator of Jedi fallen order would create this game, I would buy it with my eyes close
