When Jenning had mentioned that some unknown force was redirecting the laser spectroscope from it's original target so that it hit Howard's planet instead, I can only speculate that it probably had to be the doing of the Dark Overlords of the Universe attempting to try to escape from the Nexus of Sominus and when Jenning was trying to regain control of the spectroscope, that's when it accidentally hit Howard's planet and transported him to Earth and when preparations to return Howard back to his world were ready and the spectroscope was activated, the Dark Overlords probably tried a second attempt to escape from the Nexus of Sominus successfully transporting one of them to Earth and possessed Jenning's body attempting to bring the rest of the Dark Overlords to Earth.
