THE WOLF HUNTERZ Reaction To
The Stone Poneys Linda Ronstadt Different Drum

Hi Suzie & Travis, this is another classic. Linda Ronstadt when she was with the Stone Poneys in the 1960's. This particular song was written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkeys and was recorded in 1967. This is a gem, Linda was just starting her career & her voice was already amazing. It also doesn't hurt that she is incredibly cute and has a cheeky smile. Enjoy!

This was the first time we heard her on the radio. Took off from there and owned the '70s.

Written for the Monkees by Mike Nesbitt and rejected by their producers so it became a big hit for her.

Such a classic song! Mike did write and sing it since he made it. But Linda totally owns this treasure. This was in heavy rotation on the AM and FM radio stations and a true childhood memory. Thank you for your great reactions.

There are two kinds of men in this world, those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her."-Willie Nelson. *Per the internet, I've seen this attributed to Waylon Jennings too, but it sounds like something Willie would say!😃 Really enjoy your reactions.

Saw her in Australia in 1979 - BRILLIANT!

My absolute favorite from Linda is one that almost no one does. It's called Down So Low, from a live concert in Germany, 1976. If you want to see Linda sing from her heart, this is the one.

This came out when I was 10 years old and I was crushing on her, even at that early age.

Great reaction. Something we had that the young don’t have now was the experience of different styles of music. Today you have the proliferation of options and we only had Top 40 music stations but…. We were forced into hearing in an hour, Motown, Bubble gum, Country Crossover, Soul, psychedelic rock… etc. This gem of a song brought the talents of Linda to the public. I doubt today that those that listen to their favorite style would ever hear this wonderful “little” song. So many great musicians would say they were influenced by a diverse group of artists and music styles. That has been lost.

Thanks for doing another song by the GOAT! She’s amazing! I don’t know why anyone would dub over the live performance as she was incredible in person without any tricks or autotune! Gorgeous woman and stunningly talented woman! 💐🌸✌️

She was such a DOLL! She really did walk to a different drum! Time and time again her manager and record company tried to reign her in and talk her out of doing a project that she was passionet about, she stood her ground and they always caved in to her because she knew better than they where the hits were!

I grew up to the music of Linda
Ronstadt. Her version of “I Will Always Love You” is probably my favorite from her, and I think it’s the best version of the song.
