Canon R1 - Wildlife Video First Look - Costa Rica Rainforest

My first couple weeks with the Canon R1 have been crazy! I have pushed this camera though some crazy environments over the last few weeks. It has been dark and dumping rain in the rainforest but despite all of the humidity, I was able to get what I feel is some pretty good footage. I have several weeks to go in Costa Rica before I start to work on my review of this camera so stay tuned for that!

Hey sir,
What would be better for wildlife( small birds and bifs)?The R1+Rf 100-500+1.4x or the R5ii+100-500+1.4x+70-200mm f2.8 z?Or the rf 200-800 instead of the 100-500mm?

Love your footage. I check your chanel every day because desperatly need review of R1 in regards to wildlife filmaking. The most interesting for me is dynamic range (compate to r5 or r3) and overheating in hot environment.

Brother, this is incredible! May I ask what lenses you were using for the frog and snake? The R1 is absolutely mind blowing.
I’m wondering if I need to wait for the R1X though because of the internal ND.

The obsession with mp is secondary to getting the shot in the first place. Both my R6 ii and R3 have 24mp, obviously, but they also have fantastic AF and that's my priority. If I want a 45mp file I can upscale, but if I miss focus I have nothing.

Hey Harry! Now that you’ve shot on your R3 (which you’re keeping) and your new R1, what’s your read on the Rear LCD for the R1? In a totally bizarre decision, Canon made the R1’s EVF much better, but the R1’s LCD has HALF the resolution/dots as the R3’s screen. I own an R3 and love the R3’s LCD. What’s your read having shot with both? Is the R1’s a noticeable downgrade?

Amazing footage 😎👍…r1.. is on the wish list…we just got r5ii.. still testing ..images and ibis look amazing so far but low light performance is a bit disappointing compared to r3 and 1dx
