Exactly why I took computer science in university. Like he said its 100% possible to land a job without one. But without accountability its hard to keep yourself motivated. I like the pressure of school. It's like having a gun to your head at all times.

Love your content man, commented before that you make my life way easier regarding programming. You are honestly an inspiration for me as an inspiring Python developer, I wish I had started when I was a pre teen like you, I feel rushed even though I just turned 20, seeing what you did at my age is truly aspirational. Good job bro wish you the best

28 here, doing cs as my second bachelor and it's just so much faster learning than doing it on your own. I learn about stuff I would never have learned on my own

I was somewhat self thought in vanilla frontend and joined a one year course. Worked my ass off because I loved it, but also because I have a family to support and needed a job badly. In 9 months i got hired there as a teacher. I'm probably below the average intelligence of my frontend peers, but I'm telling you... Most people are lazy and never reach their potential, put in the work and the work will find you.

Totally agree, university education is not a must and it is not very efficient, but I don't think many people are capable of learning everything themselves.

Maybe but after teaching myself for 6 months I have not seen a job posting at FANG or anywhere else that doesn't require a CS degree

I passed out of high school last year and decided to take a gap year and know what to do with my life. I started with stocks trading then learned chess and now 1000+ rating I did travel and photography 📸 but the one thing I started from January was listening to podcast of david bombal and darknet diary got interested in hacking and started learning python and web-dev learned network and linux (at a beginner level 😅)Now this year I will go to college for CS degree.
I would say take a break and explore different things if you continue doing something for more than 3 months with consistency then that's your calling ❤

as a solo learn without degree and breakthrough pass to big company in game industry, I agree to this video, need a lot of determination, years of confusion and no one to ask back then, since there is no chatgpt, no teacher, only ask in the forum where usually you get more confused.

Another factor to take into account is that a lot of jobs will be looking for the degree first. Two people with the same experience and if one of the two has a degree they will be looked at first. I went to two job fairs and at both most recruiters didn’t really light up until I said my degree.

The concept of collages in my perspective is not to some willy Wonka magic to make you sucessfull but rather provide an compulsive working environment with the stake of your money to keep you motivated throughout the process

Yea the reason i chose school is because there is a lot of info and i dont know where to start. Tried starting myself, but everything i did was to complex than i could handle and it burned me out. But with school they have set lesson plans to keep me on track i cant back out due to the monetary investment. So all in all it works pretty well.

I'm teaching myself to code not because I'm self-taught or anything. I literally have no other option! We have public college here in Brazil, but my parents can't afford my living costs. So I bought myself a laptop and'll do what I must to find a decent job.

Getting a degree is a solid and proven path, and 9/10 people will come to appreceiate it after graduating.

I’m attending university for a software engineering degree as I love coding, problem solving, and puzzles but not so much the math in a cs degree and I’m primarily focusing on Java and eventually kotlin so I can do mobile development
