So how did you override the extension cord issue?

You can use the extension cord. Just set it to 5 amps on the charging screen to avoid a voltage drop. I charge all the time with 100 feet of cord, but it's a lot thicker than the one you had.

Vehicle Virgins Great Video I think it's awesome that you explained how hard it is to Jumpstart a Tesla and I think it's insane that Tesla charges so much for a simple tow

Usually with those jumper boxes you have to push a button to force out 12v. They typically look for voltage first before they supply any, hence why you need to make it force out the voltage. I’ve jumped a ton of fully dead cars with my NOCO jump box and once you force out the power, everything comes on

You can buy a proper 12v A123 that will pop your trunk. It's about the size of a AA battery. The extension cord thing can be ignored, just lower the current to 5A or so and re connect it.
Hope this helps, mabe make a follow up video to share these tricks. I saw someone tape an A123 inside the to hook door just incase!

Parked my Model Y for 2 months during the Canadain winter not plugged in, battery went from 80% to 72%. No battery discharge problems.

I really don't get the extension limitation. That the car isn't smart enough to trickle charge overnight for a couple of miles seems a real failure. RE jumping, cars generate a lot more juice than they used to. You can still do it, but you don't want the car that is being used to jump to have the engine running.

I think the 9v battery thing was an issue with people breaking into the frunk too easily

LFTHAND

It's a 16 volt in the frunk, not least not for about 4 years.

You just need a thicker gauge extension cord and it should work just fine
