Do You Need to Know How to Code in Cybersecurity?

Do you actually need to know how to code to be in the Cybersecurity field in 2024? Talking about the truth behind Cybersecurity stereotypes, and my take on whether or not you need to know how to code in Cybersecurity.

I would say it would depend on what job in cyber security
not every company will require u to code for a day to day and if ur resourceful enough u can figure out the essentials via google while on the job
Theres vulnerability management roles that would only require u to be really good at 1 tool (tenable security center, acas, Qualys, etc)
Day to day could be onboarding devices on the network or creating scans and reports.

I can go on for a long time and that's only scratching the surface in the amount of different jobs are available in security.

Depends on the position, as an IAM Analyst we don’t touch code at all

I wouldn't like my job to be mostly coding, but I try to learn some anyway. Mainly because I'm gonna look weird to non-tech people if I told them I don't know how to code as a cybersecurity guy
