Own X3 C300III's. The Canon EOS Cinema line has been the foundation on which my career has been built. Solid products!

I bought a c300 mki a few months ago to use as a tripod camera at events and weddings. Using it alongside my r7, r5c, two a7iv and an fx30. The footage from the c300 holds up and absolutely looks beautiful. File sizes are small, colors are beautiful, built in NDs mean I don’t have to worry about filters and step up rings, and XLR input means we can run any mics we feel like. Can’t believe I paid $800 for it.

I got a C300 mki with 5 batteries and 2 cards and a Zatuco handle for 450 Euros. Absolutely love it.😍

C300 III and the C70 really are amazing cameras. Canon really understood the assignment, and created an all around powerhouse documentary camera. I would choose the c70 at this point as renting a c300 III is more feasible then owning one. Canon will surely release a successor and competitor right after this is posted.

We used the original C300 on my award-winning movie The Martial Arts Kid. We played the film theatrically in over 20 cities across the USA including AMC cinemas in LA, NYC, Chicago, Orlando, St Pete, and Miami. Even with the 8 bit image, it looked good in a cinema and looks good on Tubi and other sites. I chose it after another filmmaker won the 2013 Palme d'Or at Cannes using the C300 on Blue Is The Warmest Color.

I used to love the C300 mk 1 back in the day when I worked for broadcast television. I shot the FS7 and FS5 when they arrived as well but I never fell in love with them. I knew they were technically better but they never gave me the sense of joy that I got from the C300. Somehow I never tried the Mk 2 but ended up buying the C200 when I started freelancing and it is still my main video camera. I also quite like the C100 Mk2 which I've rented on occasion as a b-cam (I didn't like the C100 mk 1 though).

I owned the original C300 and I've shot with almost the entire EOS Cinema series (C500, C300MKII, C200, C500MKII, C300MKIII, C70). I really like these cameras. The latest generation (C500MKII, C300MKIII) are probably the first true cinema cameras Canon ever delivered (save for the little-seen C700&700FF) and they are pretty amazing - so much so they made a few people I know (established cinematographers) change their position towards Canon cameras.

Upgraded from the original C100 (a camera I loved) to the c300 mark iii over a year ago. I went for the C300 mark iii over the C70 because of the lens mount, the full size XLR's and the form factor. It's also a more impressive camera when dealing with clients. That being said, the C70 does look amazing, I must give it a go someday. When I went for the C300 mark iii I was looking for a camera that was going to last me as long as the original C100 - I think the C300 Mark iii will be around and relevant for a long time to come.

Original C300 was amazing for drama, shot award winning 5 part series two years ago on it. Now have C300 MK II, bought for 3K, its a completely different beast but equally amazing picture quality. I also have separate XLR and touch screen monitor for it. I really like the onboard viewfinder, which MK III you have to buy. I wish MK II had internal ProRes on it. FF is game changing. I have a feature coming up and another series, which I’ll be using the 4K C300 MK II for, never been one to get overly trendy on gear.

I bought one of the first c300 mark iii units landed in the United States when it was released. Literally just sold it today and I struggled with getting rid of it. I own a pair of V raptor X's and a Komodo X at this point and I love that camera so much I struggled to sell it.

Here's a q for our experts here:

I have a C300 Mk 1 - I also have two fabulous old Af101s from Panasonic. Panasonic threw everything they had at the time at that camera, and used well they rock.

Here's the q - for the AF101 I have this great toy called a Bebob Foxi - it's an electronic focus follower system. It's super-useful.

How come an electronic focus follower isn't a more popular item? No-one seems to make them.

Here in New Zealand the cost for the c300mkiii is over double the cost of the c70 which just seems crazy.

Still running the c200 for the ergonomics and the EVF. Hanging out to upgrade.

But with the latest round of firmware updates for the c70, its hard to make the call at this point to jump to the c300 knowing it still has the EF mount and lagging features compared to the c70 in terms of firmware.

The form factor definitely is amazing though. Just hope there is an update to the c300 line soon!

The Canon cinema line is what I have shot on most since I started out, and I currently own a C70 that I got from CVP on day one. I love it but I do often miss the fully fledged body design of the C300. Even the (let's face it) pretty flawed design of the clamshell on the mki and mkii became really familiar to me, and the rental cameras I used had taken a beating but were still operating just fine. So it's all about what works I guess. It's worth noting that quite a few successful narrative features were also shot on the C300 mki like Blue is the Warmest colour and the one take thriller Victoria, both with high critical acclaim. Somehow I'm still hung up on the C-series and continue to prefer the colour and motion over Sony equivalents, even though the colour on the Sony FX line has got a lot better. Here's hoping Canon have something on the cards for the future of the c-series. Though I'd be quite happy if they didn't make my C70 obsolete anytime soon!

Crazy to see how much you can get an original 300 for now!

I don't shoot as much as I'd like, but the C70 is an awesome camera. So powerful for it's size and price point.

Still rocking my C300 Mk I 😊 What i dont like about it, is the yellow skin tone it delivers. Any experiences with it or workarounds? I find it very difficult to match with the C200.
