One Piece Original - The Legend Begins

The legend that is the Strawhat Crew began here. I chose this as the first upload, because it truly marks the beginning of One Piece. The title is taken straight from the manga, but it's not that different from the anime which is "The Legend Has Begun! To The Grand Line!"

This is one of those scenes that you don't pay much attention to on a first watch, but after seeing all that they've been through... man... It's so nostalgic, so emotional... I can't explain

Usopp’s hesitation when he says “to become a brave warrior of the sea” still gets to me. From the start he’s never had ambitious goals like the others and you can tell he feels kind of different because of it. He hesitates at first but the confidence in his voice afterwards shows that he’s trusts the others to not judge him for his goal. People give him a lot of shit for being annoying, which is true at times but I will always love Usopp for this line.

The sense of pure adventure and mystery from the beginning of One Piece is just so nostalgic

Zorro : To be the greatest swordsman
Nami : To draw a map of the world
Ussop : To become a brave warrior of the sea

Also ussop : become a god

I think the most beautiful thing about old one piece is how ambient and open it felt. New one piece is incredibly clean and crisp, but this just feels homey and nostalgic
