This classic, country, sing-along song was first recorded in 1939 by The Pine Ridge Boys, from Atlanta, Georgia. I learned the version I sing from a 1941 Gene Autry recording -- you've gotta love a singing cowboy!
'You Are My Sunshine' is credited to Jimmie Davis and Charles Mitchell, although Davis actually bought the song and rights from Paul Rice, and put his own name on it. This strange practice was common in the music business at that time.

A wonderful rendition Jez! Great country guitar! This is the first american song I ever heard, because my dad (1916) used to play it sometimes. He had learned it from the american soldiers of the 5^ Army during WWII. He would have appreciated very much your rendition
