Between 15:27 demonstrating that Ed DOES feel remorse when his actions have clearly hurt others and his occasional bouts of brilliance, I’m inclined to believe Ed isn’t dumb- he’s autistic. And I don’t mean that as an insult- I mean he practically radiates the signs. I’m no psychologist so I won’t try and assign a particular function level for him, but as someone who’s on the spectrum themselves, I think that’s why he was always my favorite character, his relatability to me in particular. Not the inhuman strength obviously, but the way his mind seems to work. I remember genuinely wanting to be a caretaker for chickens growing up because of him. c:
