20 HANDS play DUNE on 1 PIANO

With the Release of Dune - Part Two, I wanted to give Hans Zimmer's Oscar winning Soundtrack of the first Part (Paul’s dream) a try on my piano. The atmospheric, otherworldly soundscape of the original meant, I had to experiment a lot with different techniques inside the Piano, and the Keys almost play a marginal role in this one. Using the copper windings of the bass strings was very helpful in creating the sandstorm effects that play a big role in the original.
Finally, to make the experience a bit more accessible, I tried out Call-Out Animations to give a bit of context and explain how I achieved the different layers of Sound. Let me know what you think!

I’m always really frustrated with how long it takes me to read sheet music on piano since I’m a violinist who still hasn’t gotten good at sight reading chords or any other variety of polyphony yet, but I’ll never stop praising anyone who actually shows what their hands are doing on the piano for me to see without relying on a piano roll or other types of synthesia. For some reason, there’s just something so viscerally comprehensible and helpful about seeing everything done here, and I especially love how you do eventually touch on how these sounds are being created. This goes far beyond being helpful. It’s honestly inspirational, thank you.
