Exploring the Greek city of Kyparissia (#017)

Exploring the ancient city of Megalopolis, Greece, we start in the main square before making our way to the ancient theater—apparently a 4.1-star Google-reviewed spot, so it has to be good, right? Along the way, we pass a factory that covers our host’s heating bill (lucky us) and learn about his interesting life as a retired Chicagoan turned Greek restaurant owner and cannabis cultivator.

After an eventful stay, we hit the road, hitchhiking toward Kyparissia with a very specific set of instructions to reach our next host. Spoiler: it involves a gas station, a restaurant, and a hidden key. But first, we navigate abandoned playgrounds, unsuccessful hitchhiking attempts, and a whole lot of walking… until two French travelers finally save the day.

Once we arrive, the adventure isn’t over. We get the chance to pick olives and learn the traditional process of making olive oil—straight from the source. And to wrap it up, we explore an epic castle overlooking Kyparissia.
