Jaco famously took a knife to his bass to ditch the frets... but did you know Stuart Zender gave his Warwick some blade treatment too? 🔪

The bass line for "Just Another Story" by Jamiroquai showcases a line that jumps all the way up to the 24th fret on the G-String 🤯 The creativity of Zender in those early Jamiroquai days is simply unmatched!

See, Stuart is a real bassist. He doesn’t care about the value of his bass, he cares about the playability!

Perfectly reasonable idea. Allen wrenches. Truss rod wrench. Polishing cloth. Cleaver. All part of normal bass care.

Love Zender. Idk why so many bassists are scared of the upper part of the fret board, 24 frets rule.

His signature model came with the extra cut away for upper fret access.

Stuart Zender has got so much Soul and Incredibly mind-blowing funk in his bass playing& when he started playing for a Jamiroquai he was so young but yet so elegantly badass. I was in my junior year of high school when emergency planet Earth came out it was so mind-blowing it took me a while to really grasp that album and how amazing it was because I got that album right after I had gotten Return of the space cowboy which just blew my mind when I bought both in 94 and then the funk in the trunk travelling without moving my goodness. Surprised y'all don't talk more about the Brand New Heavies and their bass player Andrew Levy. They brought it to especially when they had N'adia Davenport as their singer from Atlanta Georgia.

IMO Space Cowboy is over of the most underrated albums ever. It's definitely my favorite jamiroquai album

I bought an ME6B to match those ROTSC bass effect sounds. With that juicy dynamic filter being the cream of the board. Love it!

that's probably why his signature Warwick you can reach the high frets

That live is the best version of scam. Even better that they start with Part 2 and go into part 1.

Playing high is chisely based. I just listened (for 100th time) "Your my best friend" and what the heck is Deacon doing there? He is so high up for the whole song, at that. So cool! How didn't I hear it all my life?

It’s like they designed it to be like “well, it’s a bass, they won’t need those high notes”

Let's give some props to Andrew Levy the bass player from the Brand New that man can get down

Ha! I’ve been doing similar surgeries to my guitars for decades. I was inspired, emboldened and coached by Ed VH himself, who was fearless.

Player nowadays always complain about bass weight and neck dive

They can just cut some of the woods and make it lighter 😂😂
