Build 42 Airco 1/48 Dh-2

This is SMER's old and basic Airco Dh-2.

The kit is very poor if compared to today's standards so I decided to do something different with it.

I had this kit in 1:72. I had a metal print of this aircraft when I was 10 and loved it. The kit broke when the box it was in fell and all the kits got wrecked. I now intend to build it in 1:48 but will do the Eduard build. You did an interesting take on this kit mate, well done.

Was going to do a Hawk 75/ p-36 from this company but had to change it as wasn't happy with the quality of the kit. Great idea on the build love it.

Nice build Ian.. I like the improvisation with the RAF markings, they show up well with the silver.

Amazeballs! The marked out areas for the decals worked extremely well for this silver model.. almost as if it was designed with that in mind! Looking good... :)

Have got the hobby table ready for some modelling, now I'm just waiting for the will to model to return. Hopefully sooner rather than later, have no shortage of ideas for the AAS build.. it's just getting round to actually putting glue to plastic, that's where I'm currently failing..

Still looks a lot better, than the Ansaldo kit. I like how it is whole silver. You have gave me an idea for the Eduard Albatros D.III I've messed up.

Awesome job on this Aico DH.2, yeah Smer don't often have great kits. Especially with those engraved markings. Love how you turned it into a "metal" ornament

Nice! I have always wanted to do this to a Bf-109, but using the brightest Alclad possible, so one would have to use a welding helmet to look at it :-)

The tank under the top wing is a fuel tank, the DH2's rotary engine was air cooled.
