So... Who's Winning The Academy Animation Award This Year?

So as the final movies of 2024 start to roll out, we're coming to see our full roster of options for the next Oscars Awards. And now that murmurings have started on Academy Award Predictions, I thought I would join in too to guess how the industry would reward itself after a crazy year for animated movies. On one hand you have the classic Disney with Mufasa and Inside Out 2 running with high popularity and quality. But DreamWorks has a giant rival piece with The Wild Robot making waves. Even Paramount's Transformers One was a surprise win. Whilst at the same time, we're seeing new boundaries of animation with a Pharrell Williams biopic involved. But who would be the winner? Who would be snubbed from victory? And who is absolutely not getting in? Let's discuss it all early, as we try to predict... Who's Winning The Academy Animation Award This Year?

It does have those funny kiddy moments but the movie is quite serious and an amazing take on the legendary origin stories of Megatron and Optimus Prime not to mention how Chris (imo) nailed it as Pax with the help of Peter Cullen ofc

The Wild Robot is a movie that I very genuinely believe deserves to win more than any movie released this year. It was such a beautiful movie with an amazing story. I also think that it was definitely better than Inside Out 2.

The Oscars have gotten much better at selecting best animated picutre. 2022 and 2023 could’ve been given to PiB2 and ATSV, but instead chosen Del Toro’s Pinocchio and the Boy and the Heron. It’s no longer just the Pixar/Disney award.

As much as I loved Transformers One and Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot is peak fiction and Chris Sanders deserves to have one of his films win best animated feature (or best picture)

I know there's a couple more that could be nominated that are more Indie or International. Like FLOW, The Concierge, Look Back. With Ghibli's win and Robot Dreams getting nominated, they might continue the trends of looking beyond the states for nominees
