Peter reacts like Wendy is crazy. And yet, at the same time, he remembers. There is such an unsettling quality to this film which is hard to put into words. It's like Spielberg managed to capture the duality between innocent youth and cold cynical adulthood, between light and darkness, on celluloid. Powerful film which deserves more credit than it received

'Hook' was so ahead of its time. Respecting the source material and taking it seriously, while putting a genuine twist on it that it adds to the lore...like, it was never appreciated in its time. Films back then rarely worried themselves with source material. In fact, creators were often encouraged to completely ignore it when possible. As long as it bore some vague resemblance to what its referencing, that was often enough for studios and audiences alike. The fact that Hook dared to be different really helped it stand out, which is probably why it's such a cult classic now.

I never understood this scene and the dialogue as a kid, but watching it as I am older it breaks my heart with how Peter and Wendy grew apart. She moved on and he stayed in Neverland for so long. And Maggie Smith does great job capturing that lost love she wished she could have had with him.

“Peter don’t you know who you are?” with John Williams perfect music in the back gives me chills every time!

2:46 he puts his arms on his hips signaling his first realization to the connection of his past. He instantly realizes the similarity to his pose and brushes off the thought by changing his posture. It’s a brilliant foreshadowing to his return

“And now he’s come back to seek his revenge, the fight isn’t over for Captain James Hook.”

That line sent chills through me when I watched this as a kid, still does to this day as a grown man.

Hook has got to be one of John Williams best underrated soundtracks ever. I mean, this whole scene is made 100% better with that ominous music as Wendy tells Peter who he is.

Love that reflex hands on hip pose. You can take the boy out of Neverland, but you can't take the Neverland out of the boy.

Love how he stops doing the pose when he sees that he is doing the pose In the book, sorta like he's absolute denial that could even a little bit be him 🤣🤣👌 and the way he puts his glasses on 🤣👌 just the subtlety

One of my favorite movies growing up. Rest in peace Robin Williams, and Maggie Smith.

Professor McGonagall telling the Genie of his true heritage in Neverland? Yes please!!! Hook is probably one of Spielberg's best movies and it is so underrated.

From this day, this scene will be all the more meaningful. One of the most overlooked and underrated films in history, with two of the greatest actors of our times, in what are for me my favourite roles that they ever played. May both Robin Williams and now Maggie Smith forever rest in peace.

I never realized Peter says “I’m not ready to deal with this right now.” Kind of makes me think he knows, but he’s suppressed it for so long and it’s too painful to admit or talk about.
